ABOUT ABOUT

In seeing the lack of representation across The University of Washington's campus grow even larger in STEM fields, the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.'s at the UW are preparing for The College Minorities and Youth Technology Summit (C.M.Y. Tech) on September 25th and 26th. On Friday the 25th we plan to hold a virtual career fair with keynote speakers and representative recruiters attesting to what they do for a living and what drove them towards their respective fields with a technology company. On the 26th you will have the opportunity to break into smaller groups to touch base with experts and have a more in-depth conversation about what their goals and challenges were and learn how to turn those to your advantage. Here you are able to meet and ask questions of the presenters in regards to their career fields at the various technology companies.

Although we have both Undergraduates and High School students on the call, we intend for the high school students present to gain exposure to careers that aren't as prevalent within our communities. Also, foster the efforts to learn through conversation and observation from undergraduate students to see what growing into these positions entails. Understand what fields are available and how to get there. In addition to that exposure, we plan on having the second day's activities split between college students and high schoolers to help sharpen their resumes, Linkedin profiles, and (digital) interview etiquette and preparation.

Between the stellar lineup of amazing Black professionals from Microsoft and Amazon and the raffle items we have for the students C.M.Y. Tech is set to be a success
